Kal-El was the son of scientists Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van, he was sent in a rocket to Earth as their home planet Krypton was destroyed. The rocket landed in Smallville, Kansas, where he was discovered by Jonathan and Martha Kent, who adopted him as their son and named him Clark.
