The CED (Capacitance Electronic Disc or Video Disc) is similar to a record because it stores the video and sound as small groves on a disk.
This analog playback system was developed by RCA in the 1970’s, providing a format in which video and audio could be played back on a TV using a special stylus and high-density groove system similar to phonograph records.
The Video Disc was commercially released in 1981 and was a competitor of the more expensive but better quality laser disk.
Some of these are becoming harder to find as movie buffs, retro tech and even toy collectors compete to add them to their collections.
